At Maidu Virtual Charter Academy, we believe social and emotional health is equally important to academic health. This year, we are lucky to have a dedicated Mental Health Specialist to work with Maidu students, Ms. Maddy Butcoff.  Her contact information is shown to the left. We've compiled a few resources to help our students navigate various social and emotional challenges, and these are organized below by the level of urgency of the social-emotional situation.

  • If you are in crisis, please don't wait to hear back from us! Instead, reach out to the Mobile Crisis Triage. Placer County Intake: (916) 787-8860 or (888) 886-5401.

  • The logo for Care Solace, featuring the text 'care solace' in purple and white.

PUHSD contracts with Care Solace to help our community connect with mental health care and/or substance use treatment. After getting some basic information, Care Solace does all the legwork to find the most appropriate services available. This makes the process of locating services for our families much easier. Click here to access Care Solace Services. We recommend checking in with our Mental Health Specialist, Ms. Maddy Butcoff, if you want to use this service, but it is not required.

  • Feeling stressed? Need a break from school and/or life? We're thrilled to announce the launch of our new Virtual Calming Room to intervene during moments of stress and anxiety. Simply choose the type of calming resource you would like to access.

    • Like watching baby pandas as much as our office staff does? Click the "Live Animal Cameras" link.
    • Animals not your jam but you prefer calming and soothing sounds? Click the "Sounds and Music" link.

There is something for everyone here, so please take a minute to explore anytime you need a quick brain break. Enjoy!
